1. Introduction

rOS Cooking ("we", "our", "us") operates the rOS Cooking mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information: Email address and password when you create an account.
Profile Information: Display name and avatar photo if you choose to set them.
Recipe and Pantry Data: Recipes you save, pantry ingredients you add, cooking tools, and taste preferences you set.
Community Content: Posts, photos, videos, comments, and likes you share in the community feed.
Usage Data: How you interact with the app, including features used, screens visited, and session duration. This helps us improve the app experience.
Device Information: Device type, operating system, IP address, and app version for security and debugging purposes.
AI Interaction Data: Questions you ask the Cooking Help assistant and AI dish suggestion requests, used solely to generate responses for you.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the app's core features (recipe saving, pantry tracking, cooking suggestions).
Generate personalized recipe suggestions based on your pantry and preferences.
Power AI features including Cooking Help, dish suggestions, and pantry scanning.
Display your posts and profile in the community feed.
Send verification emails and password reset codes.
Process subscription payments through Apple's App Store.
Monitor app performance, detect abuse, and enforce rate limits.
Improve the app based on aggregated usage patterns.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

Anthropic (Claude AI): Powers our AI cooking assistant, dish suggestions, and pantry scanner. Your queries are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat: Manages subscription purchases and entitlements. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Apple App Store: Processes all subscription payments. We do not directly collect or store payment card information.
Resend: Sends transactional emails (verification codes, password resets). See Resend's Privacy Policy.
Google Cloud (Cloud Run): Hosts our backend API. See Google Cloud's Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare R2: Stores uploaded images and videos. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Neon: Hosts our PostgreSQL database. See Neon's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices including encrypted database connections, hashed passwords, and JWT-based authentication with RS256 asymmetric keys. Uploaded media is stored on Cloudflare R2. We implement rate limiting, input validation, and abuse detection to protect our systems and your data.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Cooking Help chat sessions are automatically cleared after 2 hours of inactivity. If you delete your account, your personal data including recipes, pantry items, posts, and preferences will be permanently removed.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data through the app.
Update or correct your profile information.
Delete your account and all associated data from within the app.
Request information about what data we hold about you by contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

rOS Cooking is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
