Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the rOS Cooking mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

rOS Cooking is a cooking intelligence app that allows you to save recipes, track pantry ingredients and cooking tools, set taste preferences, receive recipe suggestions based on what you have, and interact with AI-powered cooking tools. The App also includes a community feed where users can share food photos, videos, and interact with other users.

3. Account Registration

To use the App, you must create an account with a valid email address and verify it via a 6-digit code. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others or create multiple accounts. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

rOS Cooking offers a free tier with limited AI usage and a paid subscription ("rOS Cooking Pro") with increased limits. Subscription details:

Monthly Plan: $3.99/month
Yearly Plan: $34.99/year
Payment is processed through Apple's App Store. All purchases are subject to Apple's terms and refund policies.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device's App Store settings.

5. Usage Limits

Both free and paid users are subject to daily and hourly usage limits on AI features and other actions to ensure fair use and service stability. These limits include but are not limited to AI dish suggestions, cooking help questions, pantry scans, post creation, and recipe edits. Exceeding these limits will result in temporary restrictions. Repeated abuse may result in account suspension.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create and upload to the App, including recipes, photos, videos, and comments. By posting content to the community feed, you grant rOS Cooking a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content within the App. You are solely responsible for the content you post. Content must not be illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.

7. AI-Generated Content

The App uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to provide cooking suggestions, recipe generation, ingredient substitutions, and pantry scanning. AI-generated content is provided for informational purposes only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, safety, or nutritional correctness of AI-generated recipes or suggestions. Always use your own judgment when cooking, especially regarding food allergies, dietary restrictions, and food safety.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
Attempt to bypass rate limits, security measures, or access controls.
Upload malicious content, spam, or content that infringes on others' intellectual property.
Harass, bully, or intimidate other users through the community features.
Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the App.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App.
Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the App or its content.

9. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service, abuse the App's features, or engage in conduct that we determine to be harmful to the service or other users. You may delete your own account at any time from within the App, which will permanently remove your data.

10. Intellectual Property

The rOS Cooking app, its design, features, code, and branding are the intellectual property of rOS Cooking. Public recipes curated and published in the Discover section are managed by rOS Cooking. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App or its proprietary content without our written permission.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We are not responsible for any adverse outcomes from following AI-generated recipes or suggestions, including but not limited to allergic reactions, foodborne illness, or nutritional deficiencies.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, rOS Cooking shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
